CANTINA SAN MARTINO IN RIO:
FROM 1907
Founded in 1907 by a group of 29 members, our winery is one of the main cooperatives in the Modena and Reggio Emilia area.
For over 100 years we have been combining tradition and innovation in the production of Lambrusco Reggiano and Modenese lambrusco and industrial products for the wine and food sector.

Today we are able to press, per year, about 300 thousand quintals of grapes, which is destined to the industrial sector and the production of bottled wine.

A HISTORY MADE OF VINES,
PEOPLE AND GOOD WINE
We have been here since 1907. The world around us has seen great changes, but we are still here, together, to carry on our wine history.
Today we are 320 members and for over a century we have been carrying on one of the oldest wine-making traditions in the area: a difficult and unpredictable job, because good wine always gives satisfaction.

1907
In February 1907 29 wine-growing members joined forces and created the Cantina Sociale di San Martino in Rio with a single objective: to stimulate the local economy by increasing viticulture and marketing their products, the Ancellotta and Lambruschi grapes.
1969
Doubles the production compared to previous years, reaching about 150,000 quintals of processed grapes.
The production rises over 200 thousand quintals making further important investments necessary for the processing of grapes.
1980
2001
The production exceeds 250.000 quintals.
2007
The merger by incorporation of Cantina di Vezzola, which we now use as a warehouse and where we have our second point of sale.
2011
Start a planned path of investment on equipment and machinery to enter a market not only wine.
2018 record year of production with over 300.000 quintals
TODAY
The investment made in the previous decade has been indispensable in order to offer our customers a variety of current and modern products also used in the food sector.

OUR VINEYARDS
Our members’ vineyards extend over the plains of the provinces of Reggio Emilia and Modena, which have always been suitable for the production of Lambrusco, and not only, in its Grasparossa, Sorbara, Salamino, Reggiano, Pignoletto and Ancellotta varieties.
State-of-the-art pressing and vinification plants allow to get the most from the grapes of our vineyards through the entire production process.
